Standing proudly on the bluffs at the head of Chesapeake Bay, the Turkey Point Light is a timeless symbol of maritime history. This historic lighthouse has guided sailors since its construction in 1833 and lighting in 1835, its beam a welcome sight for vessels navigating the waters of the bay.
Today, the Turkey Point Lighthouse is a historic landmark and a testament to the power of community and dedication. In 2000, the light was officially decommissioned and entrusted to Turkey Point Light Station (TPLS), Inc., a non-profit organization. The group has since taken on the mission of restoring and preserving the lighthouse to ensure its legacy for future generations.

Under TPLS’s stewardship, the lighthouse has undergone extensive restoration, including the relighting of its historic beacon and the commissioning of the beautiful and timeless bronze plaque that we have created to mark the historical monument and its impact on the region.
